Meet Our Head Instructor – Ms. Harpreet K. Virk

(5th Degree Black Belt)

Ms Harpreet K. Virk is the Head Instructor and founder of South Bucks Taekwon-Do. With almost 30 years of martial arts experience, Harpreet began training at just 10 years old. From a young age, she developed a passion for Taekwon-Do and went on to compete successfully at both national and international level, first as a Colour Belt and later as a Black Belt.

Alongside her martial arts career, Harpreet is also an accomplished legal professional. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Law and a master’s degree in International Commercial Law and was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2009. Today, she balances her career as a Solicitor in Gerrards Cross with her longstanding passion for teaching Taekwon-Do.

Harpreet founded South Bucks TKD in 2012, with the aim of creating a friendly, supportive club where students can develop not only their martial arts skills, but also their confidence, discipline and self-belief. Since then, she has taught hundreds of children and adults, helping students progress through the grades to Black Belt and achieve success in competition.

Promoted to 5th Degree Black Belt in 2022, Harpreet continues her own training as she works towards 6th Degree, while passing on her knowledge and experience to the next generation of martial artists — including her own two children, who have recently begun their Taekwon-Do journeys.

Harpreet is particularly passionate about making martial arts accessible and inclusive for every child. She has undertaken specialist training in teaching children with special educational needs and is currently developing SEN-friendly classes, with the aim of giving children who may find traditional martial arts classes challenging the opportunity to experience the many benefits Taekwon-Do can offer.

At South Bucks TKD, Harpreet combines almost three decades of martial arts experience with more than 20 years of teaching experience, creating a positive and encouraging environment where every student is supported to develop at their own pace, build confidence, improve their fitness and discover what they are capable of.

For Harpreet, Taekwon-Do is about far more than learning to kick and punch — it is about helping students develop skills and confidence that they can carry with them throughout life.
